Welcome to the shiver project  Previous Document

A ‘Needs Assessment’ survey was undertaken in Blackpool in 2005. As a result, the SHIVER service has been developed for people living with and affected by HIV in the Blackpool area.

Our philosophy

This service aims to promote healthier lifestyles, both physically and emotionally, provide personal development opportunities and reduce isolation and discrimination, to enable people to better live with their diagnosis, enjoying present life and planning for the future.

The approach taken is holistic and person-centred, focusing on individual need and personal situations. Respect for the community, empathy for the individual and genuineness from the service providers are the founding philosophies of this service, with a view to encouraging self-confidence and personal empowerment. We aim to provide a friendly, accessible service that is sensitive to the needs of the service users.
