About Us
Background to the Project
The needs of families and carers of substance users is recognised within the Updated Drug Strategy 2002 where it is stated that ‘Parents, carers and families also need support. They experience the problems that drugs cause at first hand, and have a key role in helping people with drug problems overcome them. They will receive improved services and support’. The Family Support Service provides a menu of services including one to one support, information, personal learning, helpline, support group, self help support and access to respite.
Encompassed within this may be:
- Support in the short and long term
- Contact with others with similar experience
- Understanding
- Practical help
